Living with a Dirty House

Dirty house

Is your house dirty?

As I was pondering the mysteries of life this week ( not!! ) I felt it would be prudent to interrupt my regularly scheduled day of leisure for something that has been weighing on me. It really is a simple matter but with consequences for everyone involved. I do not know how I have lived this long without dealing with this issue more thoroughly. How clean is my house? I mean really. Or better yet, how dirty is it?  When was the last time the furniture was moved, the baseboards scrubbed, the ceiling fan spotless ( don’t ask ), and all the beds made?
If you have kids like we do you know that they are little dirt magnets ( 3 boys ) and self-contained demolition crews. They can enter a room and in 2.5 seconds have everything overturned and dismantled. They are truly little whirlwinds that blow in, blow up, and blow out leaving destruction and mayhem behind them ( well not quite that bad ). Between them and myself my poor beleaguered wife ( the fabulous Mindy Kay ) can barely keep up.

When someone calls and says they plan on stopping over do the sirens blare and the vacuum rev in an effort to minimize the embarrassment of an untidy house? Do you, like many of us, attempt to ward off the unexpected visitor with all manner of guile until ample time has been given to straighten, clean, and polish? Do things get shoved into closets, under beds, or ( gasp! ) actually cleaned to give the appearance of order and decorum: After all, cleanliness is next to Godliness isn’t it? ( 1 Martha Stewart 2:12 )

Are our temporal houses microcosms of what is occurring in our spiritual lives? Do we put on airs while among the saints but retain clutter and filth ( unconfessed sin ) in our souls? Do we fake it around particular people in certain places to appear righteous despite the sins that are swept into the back rooms so no one can see them? Hypocrisy is a blight and worthy of the harshest condemnation as evidenced by our Lord’s dealings with the Pharisees. Outwardly their cups were clean but inside they were full of lies, hate, and corruption and were castigated for their pretense.

We, as believers, need to do better. Hiding sin neither honors our Lord nor provides a firm foundation for lasting friendships. If the foundation is rotten the whole structure is also unsound and will come crashing down around us. Be sure your sin will find you out because dirt under the rug is not removed only hidden and will only migrate to other more noticeable parts. Confession, daily repentance, prayer, and study are among the things that will reveal our true nature to us and lead to a deeper walk with Jesus Christ.

Do you have unconfessed sin? Are you a believer in God through Jesus Christ and the redemption found at the Cross? If not then today is the day of salvation for the Lord commands all sinners everywhere to repent and turn towards Him. Think about it.

Sanctity of Life and Abortion

The convenient murder and child sacrifice of millions… we sit idly by and watch…more concerned with the Super Bowl than the wanton slaughter of the innocents. How dare we claim to uphold the Holiness of God Almighty when we allow this to happen…when our clothes are drenched in the blood of helpless babes….and we elect leaders who openly promote it? What have we done? What are we going to do to stem the tide of convenient murder and child sacrifice?

“First, Moloch, horrid King, besmeared with blood
Of human sacrifice, and parents’ tears;
Though, for the noise of drums and timbrels loud,
Their children’s cries unheard that passed through fire
To his grim idol. Him the Ammonite
Worshiped in Rabba and her watery plain,
In Argob and in Basan, to the stream
Of utmost Arnon. Nor content with such
Audacious neighbourhood, the wisest heart
Of Solomon he led by fraud to build
His temple right against the temple of God
On that opprobrious hill, and made his grove
The pleasant valley of Hinnom, Tophet thence
And black Gehenna called, the type of Hell.”
– Paradise Lost, i. 391-405

The Sacrifice of Children

Our children sacrificed. A whole generation wiped away because five unelected judges deemed privacy a sacred right allowing us to take the life of the unborn.

Jeremiah 32:35

English Standard Version (ESV)

35 They built the high places of Baal in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to offer up their sons and daughters to Molech, though I did not command them, nor did it enter into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

Have we as a nation caused our sons and daughter to ” pass through the fire ” for convenience sake? Have we become calloused to the sanctity of human life or are we inebriated with the illusion of our own godhood to the point we can now equivocate on how many lives we can afford to offer up?

Leviticus 18:21

English Standard Version (ESV)

21 You shall not give any of your children to offer them to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.

The LORD, He is God, and and HE places value upon life because HE created us in HIS image.

Mark 9:42

” Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe to stumble, it would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had been cast into the sea.

If causing one to stumble brings such a strong rebuke what of the wanton slaughter of over 40 million pre-born lives?

Convenient Murder and Child Sacrifice?

Molech: “A detestable Semitic deity honored by the sacrifice of children, in which they were caused to pass through or into the fire. Palestinian excavations have uncovered evidences of infant skeletons in burial places around heathen shrines

The sacrifice of infants is an abomination and a stench in the nostrils of God and is a festering sore on our nation’s soul. Our leaders, whom we have elected, do not listen….they pander to the crowd’s ears that they are tickling at the moment, making sweeping promises that we have far to often fallen for.

Psalm 127:3

Behold, children are a gift of the LORD,The fruit of the womb is a reward

Children are a blessing from the LORD and a reward to be cherished in His sight. How we have fallen: to equate success and independence with the freedom to destroy life at will.

Stand up. Take account of the situation. What is the life of a child worth? Do you call yourself a child of God and promote and defend legal abortion? What have we done to curb the tide of convenient murder and child sacrifice in this once great nation? Not enough. Where can you go to learn more?
